Secondarily generalized tonic-clonic seizures are dangerous because they increase the risk of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) and injuries. In order to understand the pathophysiology of generalized seizures, circuits generating and propagating them must be delineated first. My research is focused on mapping the seizure circuit, using novel neuronal activity mapping techniques combined with CLARITY, high resolution imaging, and local field potential recordings to reveal a more complex circuit of motor seizures than previously thought.
