Our UVA neuroscience research community is passionate about outreach and proud to proud to share the science we love with the community at large, to inspire the next generation of great scientists.
Every spring, NGP students participate in Brain Awareness Week, a global campaign launched by the Dana Foundation and endorsed by the Society for Neuroscience. In Charlottesville and surrounding counties, NGP students visit local K-12 classrooms to educate and excite students about brain science. Activities include walkthroughs of brain anatomy with real human and animal brains, and live recordings of electrical activity from nerves and muscles.
One of our newest initiatives is Magnify, a collaboration between NGP graduate students and high school art students at Charlottesville High School to foster science communication by interpreting neuroscience research through artwork.
